#13593 Serena (Athlete Pups)

Adoptable
Medium-size, Female, Baby Anatolian Shepherd x Mixed Breed,
Energy Level 3

Energy Level 3 - Enjoys walks, mental stimulation, and some playtime.

Greetings! My name is Serena, just like the tennis champ. Foster mom says I am a champion too – she says she is pretty sure I would take a blue ribbon in the category “Best Pups Available For Adoption on the East Coast of the United States of America.” A ribbon is fine; I just hope it comes with a frozen marrow bone. A pup can dream, and I dream BIG. Would you like to be a part of my dream? Come on in!

Foster mom has learned that Serena is:

-Super smart – in just the past week she (a) is quickly becoming housetrained and will potty almost immediately on command on regular outings; (b) will sit and is getting better at wait; and (c) is learning not to jump up on people and not to counter surf.
-Super sweet and affectionate, and loves to make new friends with humans and other pups.
-Great on walks; she loves being outdoors and running free (although she checks back in regularly to make sure foster mom is still there).
-Gentle as a lamb, and just as playful. She has coaxed foster mom’s grumpy 10-year old GSD into playing with her which is a gold medal first!
-Brave – she generally embraces new experiences and new places with only an appropriate amount of caution.
-Loves riding in the car – she settles down and starts to snooze within the first few minutes.

Serena just recently transitioned to a new foster home and is quickly learning to operate solo, including staying quietly in her crate or loose while alone. She continues to sleep quietly through the night secured in her crate.

Serena is guessed to be an Anatolian Shepherd mix, born on December 20, 2023. Based on her mother’s size, she likely will top out in the 50-55 pound range when fully grown. She has not been tested with cats, but has not displayed a high prey drive while walking in the forest.

Serena (Athlete Pups) Serena (Athlete Pups) is currently being fostered in Doswell, VA.

All adult dogs, cats, and kittens are altered prior to adoption. Puppies too young to be altered at the time of adoption must be brought to our partner vet in Ashland, VA for spay or neuter paid for by Operation Paws for Homes by 6 months of age. Adopters may choose to have the procedure done at their own vet before 6 months of age and be reimbursed the amount that the rescue would pay our partner vet in Ashland.

This dog's bio is based off the experiences of the foster and/or volunteers of OPH as well as any information that we received from the shelter or previous owner. This is very important because it means that while they may act one way in the foster’s home, you may experience something different in your home.
