A Fresh Look and a Stronger Identity for OPH

Over the past several months, we have been putting a lot of thought and effort into how we present Operation Paws for Homes to the world. That work includes our new website launching this week, a refreshed look and feel, a comprehensive brand guide, and a renewed commitment to making sure our communications, events, and materials reflect the organization we are today and the future we are building together.

Even though we have urgent lifesaving work to do every day, how we present ourselves to the public is an important part of that work, too.

Our brand is so much more than a logo. It is the story we tell, the experience people have with OPH, and the impression we leave behind. It is reflected in everything from our website and adoption materials to our fundraising campaigns, community events, supporter communications, and the way we talk about our mission. When those pieces work together, they help people recognize us, understand who we are, and feel confident about becoming part of our community.

As OPH has grown, our programs and impact have grown right along with us. We are doing more than ever, from rescuing and rehoming dogs and cats to supporting underserved communities, expanding access to spay and neuter services, strengthening shelter partnerships, and developing new opportunities for humane education. We need the way we communicate to reflect the breadth of that work and the professionalism, compassion, and commitment behind it.

That is where our new website and brand guide come in. The website gives adopters, fosters, volunteers, donors, and community partners a clearer path to finding information and getting involved, and we can easily update it to reflect the most current things happening within OPH. The brand guide gives us a shared roadmap for how we communicate visually and verbally, including our colors, fonts, logos, messaging, and overall tone. It helps ensure that whether someone encounters OPH at an adoption event, reads a social media post, opens a newsletter, or visits our website, they recognize the same organization and experience the same sense of purpose. The brand guide can be found on the shared Google drive in the Brand Assets folder.

I also want to give a special shout-out to Anne Ninowski, our official unofficial brand manager! Anne has been an incredible champion of creating a more consistent OPH look and feel, paying attention to the details, and helping us think about how all the pieces fit together. She is also the talent behind our new website design. Every organization needs people who notice the little things that make a big difference, and Anne has certainly embraced that role. Thank you, Anne, for your creativity, your enthusiasm, and your commitment to helping OPH put its best paw forward!

We are also paying closer attention to the details that shape how people experience OPH in person. Our events should look organized, welcoming, and professional. Our signage, banners, handouts, promotional materials, and displays should be current, consistent, and easy to recognize. We want to make sure we are using the most up-to-date versions of our materials rather than relying on something created several years ago that no longer reflects our programs, messaging, or visual identity. If you are an event lead and unsure if you have all the most current materials, are missing tablecloths or signage, or need refill on brochures or business cards please reach out to events@ophrescue.org.

These details may seem small individually, but together they make a difference. They help build trust, strengthen recognition, and show our community that we are an organization that takes its mission seriously. And when we are asking people to open their homes, contribute their hard-earned dollars, partner with us, or advocate for animals, that trust matters.

And speaking of putting our best paw forward, let's talk about The Pawesome Shop! Our merch store is another opportunity to build our brand, celebrate our community, and let people show off their OPH pride. We would ove to hear your ideas for what we should offer. Are there designs, slogans, products, or OPH-themed items you would be excited to wear, use, or give as gifts? Think beyond the traditional T-shirt! From fun items for animal lovers to gear our volunteers can wear at events, there are lots of possibilities. Reach out with any and all ideas to ophmerch@ophrescue.org.

Please share your ideas with us! We want The Pawesome Shop to reflect the creativity and personality of the people who make OPH special. After all, who better to tell us what our community would love than the people who are part of it every day?

And this is where all of you come in.

You are some of our most important ambassadors. You represent OPH at adoption events, in conversations with friends and family, on social media, in your communities, and through every interaction you have with adopters and fellow animal lovers. You help shape how people see us, often long before they ever speak with a staff member or visit our website.

As we continue this work, I ask you to help us embrace our shared identity. If you have ideas for how we can make our events, communications, or outreach more consistent and effective, we want to hear those, too!

Most importantly, remember that a strong brand is built by the people behind it. No logo, website, or style guide can communicate our mission as powerfully as the compassion, dedication, and hard work you bring to OPH every day.

We have spent more than 16 years building an organization that saves lives and brings people together around a shared commitment to animals. Now, we are making sure our public presence reflects that legacy while positioning us for what comes next.

Thank you for being such an important part of the OPH story. I am excited about this next chapter, and I am grateful to have all of you helping us bring it to life. And please keep those ideas coming, whether they are about our brand, our events, or what you'd love to see in The Pawesome Shop. Building a stronger OPH is something we do together!

Thanks,

Rebecca
